Buwathay Munyarryun Pedigree Ceremonial Yidaki
"Buwathay rarely makes Yidaki, but when he does they are always top quality instruments. This particular Yidaki is a pedigree for the desired acoustics, weight and shape for ceremonial use by Wangurri and indeed various other Yolngu clans. For this reason it would make an excellent museum piece. It has been used extensively at Dhalinybuy community in funeral and initiation ceremonies and on several occasions it has been taken to other outstation communities for use in ceremony."Author - Jeremy Cloake aboriginalarts.co.uk/new/cerem nial/buwathay/buwathay.htm

nice pics, absolutely beautiful! the yidaki playing sounds kinda ok but is a whitefella right? you can tell the difference with his rhythms and imprecise tonguings. good job though! |
